Abstract This study examines Islamic moderation (wasatiyyah) in the message of Islam as an inherent and foundational characteristic shaping the Islamic worldview and its approach to belief and conduct. It adopts a foundational approach that defines the concept, highlights its distinctive characteristics, and demonstrates its benefits. The originality of the study lies in its effort to clarify the concept of moderation, distinguish it from undisciplined contemporary appropriations, and restore it to its authentic Islamic foundations in light of the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and the understanding of recognized Muslim scholars, while also highlighting its theological and civilizational dimensions. The study aims to define the concept of moderation precisely, identify its distinctive characteristics, and demonstrate its benefits and effects on the development of both the individual and society. It employs inductive, analytical, and deductive methods. The study concludes that moderation is an authentic Islamic concept signifying justice and uprightness rather than compromise or dilution of principles; that it constitutes a governing framework that safeguards the Muslim community from excess and negligence; and that its promotion contributes to intellectual and social balance while enhancing the civilizational representation of Islam.
