This study presents a critical edition of the exegesis of Surat al-Tur from the manuscript Miftah al Tanzil, authored by Muhammad ibn Abi al Qasim ibn Babjuk al Baqqali (d. 562 AH). The research aims to introduce al Baqqali and his Qur’anic exegesis, describe the manuscript, and produce a rigorously verified edition of the selected portion. The study is organized into an introduction and two chapters. The introduction addresses the significance of the topic, the research questions, objectives, previous studies, the structure of the study, and the methodology adopted. The first chapter presents an introduction to the author and to the manuscript under investigation. The second chapter contains the critically edited text (the exegesis of Surat al-Tur). In the first chapter, the study employs both the historical and descriptive methods, while the second chapter applies the analytical method. Among the most significant findings of the research is the scholarly value of al Baqqali’s exegesis, which stands as one of the most distinguished Qur’anic commentaries inherited from the sixth century AH. Al Baqqali is not merely a transmitter of opinions; rather, he evaluates and weighs between them. His work is further characterized by its attention to Qur’anic readings and their linguistic justification, its citation of the statements of earlier exegetes, and its reliance on a wide range of sources.
