Abstract This study investigates the persuasion strategies employed in Elia Abu Madi's poem Kun Balsaman ("Be a Balm") from a pragmatic perspective. It examines the poem as a form of directive poetic discourse that extends beyond aesthetic expression to construct an argumentative and persuasive discourse aimed at influencing the audience and encouraging them to embrace the ideas and values advanced by the poet. Adopting a descriptive analytical approach, the study explores the poem's directive, allusive, and argumentative persuasion strategies and analyzes them within the framework of pragmatics. It further examines the rhetorical and pragmatic mechanisms through which these strategies are realized, drawing on representative examples of linguistic, rhetorical, and pragmatic devices employed throughout the discourse. The findings reveal that Kun Balsaman is grounded in a pragmatic structure and functions as an argumentative and persuasive discourse. Abu Madi employs directive, allusive, and argumentative strategies, making effective use of speech acts, rhetorical imagery, and argumentative connectives to shape the audience's response and encourage the adoption of the values of love, tolerance, and benevolence.
