Abstract This research paper is entitled: ‘Ibn Rushiq al-Maliki’s Objections to Abu Hamid al-Ghazali on Qiyas, as set out in his book *Lubab al-Mahsul*’, by dr. Fahd bin Muhammad al-Mutairi. It contains a collection of the comments made by Ibn Rushiq al-Maliki, who died in 632 AH, of Abu Hamid al-Ghazali, who died in 505 AH, in his book *Lubab al-Mahsul min ‘Ilm al-Usul*, which he compiled as an abridgement of the book *Al-Mustasfa min ‘Ilm al-Usul*. The methodology adopted in this study is based on an inductive analysis of the points on which Ibn Rushiq, may God have mercy on him, raised objections to al-Ghazali’s remarks in *Al-Mustasfa*; namely: his criticism of al-Ghazali for excluding analogy (qiyās) from the set of proofs; his criticism of the definition of analogy provided by al-Ghazali; his criticism of al-Ghazali’s prioritisation of discussing the chains of reasoning before delving into the validation of analogy; his criticism of al-Ghazali’s assertion that analogy applies to original negation; his criticism of al-Ghazali’s definition of analogy by resemblance; and his criticism of al-Ghazali’s omission of the invalidators of analogy in his book *Al-Mustasfa*. The research included a brief introduction to the two Imams and their works, and presented a number of findings; amongst them: that *Lubab al-Mahsul* contained issues and elaborations not found in *Al-Mustasfa*; that Ibn Rushiq’s wording in his corrections reflects his confidence in his own statements and indicates the independence of his judgement; and that his usul al-fiqh views in his book: *Lubab al-Mahsul* are worthy of attention and further study.
