Abstract This research examines the legal rules governing the corroboration of evidence in criminal proceedings. It further elucidates the concept of evidentiary corroboration and analyzes the approaches adopted by both legislation and the judiciary in this regard. The study also explores the impact of the interrelationship among items of evidence on the formation of the criminal judge's conviction, as well as the extent to which the invalidity of one item of evidence affects the validity of the remaining evidence and the judgment founded thereon. The research adopts the analytical approach through an examination of the relevant statutory provisions and judicial decisions concerning the principle of corroboration of evidence in criminal proceedings. It concludes that the corroboration of evidence produces legal effect only where it is based upon lawful and admissible evidence that is mutually coherent and complementary, thereby ensuring the integrity of proof and the proper administration of criminal justice. Collectively, such evidence must lead to a single and consistent conclusion regarding the fact to be established.
