Abstract This study investigates occurrences in the Holy Qur'an where the Qur'anic expression departs from the preferred or predominant order of presentation, with the aim of revealing the rhetorical secrets underlying such departures and explaining their role in the coherence and precision of Qur'anic discourse. The study adopts the descriptive-analytical approach through a comprehensive examination of the relevant Qur'anic verses, supported by classical works on Qur'anic exegesis, rhetoric, and Qur'anic sciences. The research consists of an introduction and two main chapters. The first chapter examines verses that depart from the preferred order, while the second focuses on verses that depart from the predominant pattern of presentation, highlighting the rhetorical purposes served in each case. The findings demonstrate that these departures are not arbitrary deviations from the norm but deliberate rhetorical choices dictated by contextual requirements, the demands of the situation, and the harmony between wording and meaning. The study further reveals the remarkable precision of the Qur'anic structure, showing that every instance of precedence and postponement is employed to achieve a specific semantic and rhetorical purpose. These findings underscore one of the eloquent aspects of the Qur'an's linguistic miracle and illustrate the significant role of word order in directing meaning and enriching textual interpretation.
