Abstract

The aim of the research is to identify the problems encountered by the students of the Faculty of Education, University of Saba Region, when applying the subject of Practicum. The research adopted the descriptive approach to achieve the research objective. The researcher designed a questionnaire consisting of (33) paragraphs in five areas: problems related to school administration, problems related to school students, problems related to the student teacher, general problems, and problems related to the supervisor. The study sample consisted of (30) students from the Department of Quranic Sciences at the Faculty of Education at the University of Saba Region for the academic year 2020-2021. The researcher used a number of statistical methods, including calculating frequencies, percentage, and arithmetic mean. After statistical data processing, the research results showed that student teachers suffer from many problems during the application of practicum. The most important of these problems, from the research sample perspectives are: overcrowding of students in the classroom, merging the subject of Practicum with graduation research project in one semester, and mental distraction due to the ongoing war, which had a negative impact on the performance of the student teacher, the lack of time allowed for practical education, the scarcity of teaching aids in the school in which the application is made, and the weak capacity necessary to prepare teaching aids. The researcher came up with a set of recommendations, including: - Adopting the results of the current research and seeking to solve the problems experienced by student teachers. - Holding workshops within the university to improve the level of students in Practicum. - Reducing the number of students with each educational supervisor so that they can follow them better.
