Abstract

By virtue of Yemen's important strategic location, and its huge wealth from multiple sources, it was and still is a station for the ambitions of all colonial countries and a playground for the struggle of the global poles. Due to the absence of the project of an independent state far from the dominance of one of these poles, this blessing has turned into a curse that brings woes to the people of this country. Yemen's important and strategic geographical location makes it today an arena of local and international conflict, makes the controlling party a major player in the region, and gives it the ability to control the entrance to one of the most important water crossings in the world. Accordingly, the aim of this study is to answer a major question: What are the reasons for regional ambitions in Yemen? What are Yemen's means of confronting these ambitions? For this reason, the researcher adopted the historical and descriptive analytical method to study these ambitions. This study was divided into two sections: the first is the nature of the ambitions of regional powers and their starting points, and the second is the reasons for those regional ambitions and Yemen’s means of confronting them. The study reached a set of results, the most important of which is that the regional powers are seeking with all their might to gain a foothold in the Republic of Yemen, whether for personal motives or international motives. The study concluded with the most important recommendations.
