Proposed Effectiveness of an Electronic Program in Diagnosing and Treating some Mathematical Learning Difficulties among Third-Grade Elementary School Female Students
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aimed to identify the effectiveness of proposed electronic program for diagnosis and treatment of some difficulties in learning mathematics among third-grade students. In order to achieve the aims of this study, the researcher used the descriptive method and semi- experimental method. The sample of the study contained 30 female students from students of the third primary grade, they were divided into two groups, the first group was the control group, which contained 15 female students, and the other one was the experimental group which contained also 15 female students. The results of the study showed that the level of obstacles faced by female students were as follows: In the first place, there were difficulties of learning the addition of numbers. In second place there were difficulties related to realizing the spatial value of numbers. In third place, there were learning difficulties in the opposite operations. In the fourth place, there was a difficult of distinguishing the four-sided geometric figures. In the fifth place, there was difficulty of reading the minute hand. The results of the study also showed significant statistical differences of the proposed electronic program for diagnosis the obstacles, which deter female students, form learning math. And showed significant statistical differences of proposed electronic program for managing the obstacles of learning math (such as addition - identifying spatial value of numbers) among the female students of the third primary grade. According to the results of the study, the researcher recommended the importance of concentrating on electronic diagnostic tests, due to its effective role in diagnosis. The importance of avoiding the complete depending on traditional method for diagnosis and management of obstacles which deter female students from learning math. Providing mathematical activities which concentrate on managing the obstacles which deter female students from leaning math and giving them different opportunities to improve their skills. Obtaining the benefit of new trends in managing the obstacles of learning math upon designing the electronic programs, and the school’s attempt to overcome the difficulties of addition and the difficulty of realizing the spatial value of numbers and the difficulty of reverse operations for female students through various electronic programs. During the period of spreading of Corona virus, the program was applied to female students, which allowed female students to continue receiving their education.
