Main Article Content
Abstract
Research Objectives: 1- Understanding the importance of context and reasons of revelation in explaining the meanings of verses in Ibn Jarir's interpretation. 2- Ibn Jarir’s statement regarding the most likely opinion when the context and the reason for revelation conflict. 3- Understanding the reasons Ibn Jarir uses to prioritize the cause over the context or to consider both equally valid. Research Methodology: Descriptive-inductive methodology, through collecting examples to reach conclusions based on these examples and selecting Ibn Jarir. Research Structure: The nature of the research required dividing it into an introduction, five sections, a conclusion, and indices. Section One: Discusses the importance of the reason of revelation in explaining the meaning. Section Two: Mentions the importance of the context in explaining the meaning. Section Three: Preferring context over the reason of revelation. Section Four: Combining context and reason. Section Five: Conflict between the strength and validity of the reason and the context. Conclusion: Summarizes the most important results. Research Results: 1- Not all rules of preference are equal; some are stronger than others and the evidence can support each other to prefer some rules. 2- The importance of context in Ibn Jarir's preference, and the deviation from is rarely except with strong justification and reliable clarification. 3- Ibn Jarir picks context over the reason of revelation in cases of conflict in preference within a single example.
