The Concept of Atheism and the Response to It: A Study from a Qur’anic Perspective

Abstract

This research talked- about the concept of atheism in the Qur'anic context, ways to respond to it, and mentioned its causes, through two aspects: First: a Qur'anic theory. Second: a contemporary scientific one bearing a late chronological character. The questions of this research are: What is the concept of atheism, and What is the difference between the past concept and the contemporary concept? What are the images of atheism in the Qur'an that explain its concept? What is the Quranic approach in responding to atheists? What are the causes of atheism, and what are the ways to disprove it in light of the Holy Qur’an? What is its danger and what are its effects? The research is based on the original transmitted method that depends on collecting correct information from its original sources, as well as the analytical method and the deductive method. The objectives of this research are: Highlighting the concept of atheism, identifying its forms and causes, knowing the ways in which the Qur’an abolishes it, knowing some of the features of atheism in the modern era, and shedding light on its effects. One of the most important results of this research is that behind pushing people to atheism in the present era are motives and ambitions that are not limited to being religious, but may be economic, political and greedy motives, and that modern technology and means of communication may be used as effective weapons for those motives.
