Abstract
The Objective of this research: Giving an overview of the religions, sects, and ideologies and an overview of its history so that the reader understands how the religious situation in Maldives has evolved, throughout its history since accepting Islam till the present era. The Research Consists of an introduction, a preface which consists of an introduction to the Maldives and definition of religions, sects and ideologies, section one: consists of its religions and sections two: consists of sects and ideologies that have spread therein, and a conclusion. Conclusions: The Maldives was practicing Buddhism before they entered to the fold of Islam in 548 A.H, they were influenced by several sects including Mysticism, Asharites, Dawoodi Bohra and now they are all extinct except Asharites. The Portugal and British colonizers tried to convert them to Christianity, but they failed. Contemporary Sects and Ideologies which exists in Maldives include Modern Kharijites, The Sect of Rashad Khalifa, Secularism, Atheism and Feminist Movement.
