Abstract
This research aims to study the science of appropriateness in the Holy Quran in light of the variations in Quranic readings and their moral and regulatory meanings, clarifying the concept of the science of appropriateness and its impact on directing Quranic readings. It highlights some examples of appropriateness between Quranic readings and the arguments of readings in guiding them through studying models from Surah Al-Ahzab and explaining the impact of this argument on directing the moral differences in the meanings of various Quranic readings. The researcher followed a descriptive, inductive, and analytical approach to determine the significance of moral appropriateness in guiding the moral and regulatory differences in Quranic readings while focusing solely on moral appropriateness without considering other forms such as auditory, linguistic, grammatical, morphological, and others. Through scholars' references to the science of appropriateness, the researcher concludes that the science of appropriateness has a significant impact on directing moral and regulatory differences in Quranic readings. Key aspects include the appropriateness of various Quranic readings for general meanings conveyed by certain Quranic words where there is no difference in readings, as well as the alignment of meanings of each reading with Quranic readings before and after it within the same verse, or in adjacent verses, or within the same verse in different chapters. This diversity and variation depend on influencing factors which the researcher recommends exploring further, along with completing studies on the grammatical, linguistic, morphological, rhetorical, and regulatory appropriateness in light of Quranic readings variations across the entire Holy Quran, in its chapters, verses, and breaks.
