Abstract
Phenomenon of names resemblance has spread in various countries, including Republic of Yemen. Civil name system for ordinary persons is a traditional legal means of distinguishing individuals from each other. The practical reality has proven that there are many cases of names resembling some people with others that have triggered disputes before the courts for decision. This means that the legal system of civil name in Yemeni legislation fails to achieve its objective, in which gave this topic great importance made it worthwhile to look at this problem and propose an appropriate solution. This study dealt with the topic of “ A problem of name resemblance and the importance of national figure in solving it”(descriptive study). This research involved three investigations that first touched on legal system of the civil name in Yemeni law. Second research was devoted to talking about causes of names resemblance and its practical applications. Finally the third research was devoted to addressing the importance and the national number in solving the problem of the similarity of names. I have relied on the analytical descriptive approach in writing this research. The research concluded with a series of findings and recommendations. The study concluded by indicating the importance of the role the national number in solving the problem of the similarity of the names by expanding the use of the legal statement, especially in legal proceedings.
