Abstract

Weighting rules are considered to be very important methodological tools in interpretation process as they are used to guide the interpreter to choose the preponderant saying among other opinions and differences during interpreting the Quranic texts. The current study shed light on the application of weighting rules while interpreting the verses (17-32) of Surah al-Kahf. It also aimed at analyzing the different sayings of the interpreters by using such rules to get the most appropriate one that is consistent with the context as well as the intended meanings of the verses. The researcher used the analytical method as a research methodology to analyze the verses. The study at hand concluded with valuable findings. The most important of which are: 1- Weighting rules are very important issues that help to correctly understand the Holy Quran and to get the preponderant saying among others. 2- Weighting rules are necessary in interpretation as they are the main basis on which the interpreter depends on. 3- Weighting rules that are related to Sunna, sayings, and Arabic language are accurately examined.
