Abstract
This research revolves around removing the problem that comes to mind regarding the meaning of “al-Oud” mentioned in Surat Al-A’raf and Surat Ibrahim. The Almighty’s saying: (Or you will surely return to our religion) either means that what is meant by return is becoming or entering from the beginning, and here there is no problem at all, or what is meant by return is going back, and on this basis what is meant by this address is the people of Shu’ayb- peace be upon him- and the peoples of the prophets- peace be upon them- and the inclusion of Shu’ayb and the prophets in this address came by way of predominance, or what is meant is deception, or this statement was issued by their people by way of imagination, or what is meant is returning to what they were upon of abandoning denial, and the Almighty’s saying: (And it is not for us to return to it) is similar to it without a difference in the answer, and the Almighty’s saying: (After Allah has saved us from it) is understood in light of what came before, so what is meant is either that the Almighty made them aware of the error of polytheism, not in the sense that they were in it and He saved them from it, or what is meant is that my people were saved, or that this answer is from Shu’ayb- peace be upon him- on behalf of his people, and with all of this the problem is removed and the illusion that comes to mind when reading these noble verses is removed, and Allah the Almighty Know.
