Abstract

This research deals with the topic of “The Recitation of Al-A'mash in Surah Hud- peace be upon him: Agreement and Divergence – Compilation and Study.” I have inducted the agreement and divergence of Al-A'mash's recitation with the ten Qur'anic reciters, along with an analysis of his readings. The research aims to clarify the points of agreement and divergence between Al-A'mash and the ten Qur'anic reciters in the detailed readings (Farsh al-Huruf) of Surah Hud-peace be upon him, providing interpretative insights into his unique recitations and addressing any ambiguities when compared to the ten reciters readings. I adopted the analytical-inductive method in this study, which resulted in several key findings, including the following: The study topics in this research consisted of 35 instances of agreement and divergence. Al-A'mash agreed with the ten Qur'anic reciters in 25 instances and diverged from them in 10 instances, where his recitations were unique. It was found that Imam Al-A'mash agreed with the ten Qur'anic reciters in most of his recitations, with rare instances of divergence from the widely transmitted readings. Thus, his recitations deserve attention and benefit in deriving jurisprudential rulings and other matters. Moreover, most of Al-A'mash's divergences from the recitations of the ten Qur'anic reciters are strongly justified linguistically and in terms of interpreting the meaning of the verse.
