Abstract

This research relates to the study of theological issues concerning the saying of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): "The Throne of the Most Merciful shook at the death of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh." The aim of the research is to gather the authentic narrations related to the hadith and to study the most important theological issues mentioned in those narrations. The research follows an inductive and analytical methodology, and it is structured into an introduction, a preface, six sections, a conclusion, and indexes. The research reached several results, the most prominent of which are: 1- That Sa'd ibn Mu'adh has a great status in Islam, for Allah, the Exalted, rejoiced at his meeting, and the Throne trembled for him, and the gates of heaven were opened for him, and the angels came down to witness his funeral and carry him. 2- The correct meaning of the Throne trembling at the death of Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) is that it moved in joy at the arrival of his soul. 3- The correct meaning of the grave's embrace that occurred for Sa'd ibn Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) can either be understood as the grave embracing him gently and with compassion, or that he experienced natural pains upon being placed in the grave, which no one is exempt from, and those pains quickly vanished from him by the grace and mercy of Allah.
