Abstract
This research examines the prophetic emotional intelligence in addressing family problems in light of the Prophetic Sunnah and the sayings of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, through a scientific analysis of a set of prophetic situations that embody the highest forms of human interaction and compassion in family life. The study aims to uncover the prophetic methodology in managing emotions, controlling reactions, and maintaining effective communication within the household, and how the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم employed his emotional intelligence in containing disputes and achieving family stability. The study relied on authentic hadiths reported in the books of Sunnah. It analyzed various situations from the life of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم with his wives, relatives, and some of his companions — such as his stance in the Incident of al-Ifk (the Slander), his handling of the jealousy of his wives, his situation with Fatimah and Ali (may Allah be pleased with them), and other examples that highlight the mercy, justice, and gentleness of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم in sensitive situations. The findings revealed that the Prophetic Sunnah represents a comprehensive school of emotional intelligence, teaching the art of managing family conflicts with wisdom and balanced emotions, and affirming that the success of marital relationships is founded on mercy, attentive listening, and mutual understanding — not on harshness or violence. The research also showed that following the prophetic approach in emotional conduct contributes to reinforcing the values of affection and compassion and to building a stable Muslim family. The study concludes that many prophetic hadiths are not merely texts, but rather a practical methodology for managing family life with refined emotional awareness — combining upbringing, excellence, and compassion — and presenting an everlasting model for the Muslim family in light of the noble prophetic guidance.
