Abstract
Abstract: The research aims to: - Identify the explicit and implicit forms of command. - Define the concept of command in terms of its literal and figurative meaning. - Highlight the non-explicit forms of command in Surah Al-Imran. Research Methodology: Analytical and deductive methods. The most prominent findings of the research: - The command is defined as a verbal expression requesting an act rather than abstention. - The command is literal when expressed in a specific form and figurative in other contexts. - Superiority or authority (‘uluw or isti‘la’) is not a necessary condition for a command. - A command does not necessarily imply the will (irada) for the act to occur. Keywords: figurative meaning – command (amr) – indication (dalalah) – Surah Al-Imran.
