Abstract
Abstract: This study examines the manifestations of fear and its effects on the construction of the poetic text in the works of the Abbasid poet Diʿk al-Jinn. The motivation for addressing this issue stems from the dominance of fear as a driving force in the poet’s discourse on fate, women, and politics. The research proceeds along two paths: the first is a theoretical framework that defines fear and its various forms, while the second is an applied analysis that reads the poetic texts through a constructive (enunciative/structural) approach. The analysis of the selected poetic samples reveals that, although Diʿk al-Jinn echoes the voices of earlier Arabic poetry in expressing his fear of fate, he nevertheless demonstrates a distinct originality in his treatment of the theme of fear—particularly in his reflections on women and politics.
