Abstract
This research presents an analytical study of certain chains of transmission (Asanid) of the Qur'anic readings (Qira'at), including their various paths (Turuq) and narrations (Riwayat), as cited by Imam Sibt al-Khayyat in his book: "Al-Ikhtiyar fi Ikhtilaf al-Ashara Aimmat al-Amsar." Employing an inductive methodology, the study compares these chains with the Imam’s other works and the writings of his teachers through whom these chains were transmitted. The research aims to demonstrate the utility of these chains in determining the time and place of the readings' reception, identifying obscure narrators, and establishing chronological order. Furthermore, it examines the additions within these chains (Ziyadat al-Asanid) and the methods for weighing between them (Tarjih) in cases of discrepancy, among other scholarly benefits. Consequently, the research presents the most significant findings, emphasizing the importance of distinguishing between earlier and later works to weigh varying opinions—particularly regarding the continuity of transmission (Ittisal al-Asanid). Keywords: Qira'at (Qur'anic Readings), Turuq and Riwayat (Paths and Narrations), Sibt al-Khayyat, Ibn Faris, Abu Tahir, Abu al-'Izz al-Qalanisi.
