Abstract

Abstract
This research examines the external rhythm in the collected poems of the Omani poet Bashir bin Amer Al-Fazari. It attempts to identify the poetic meters he employed, linking each meter to the poetic themes he addressed. Furthermore, it compares the meters used by Al-Fazari with those used by earlier poets to determine whether he adhered to the conventions of his predecessors. The researcher employed both statistical and descriptive methodologies. The research begins with a theoretical introduction to poetic meters and their relationship to the poetic themes of earlier poets. It then proceeds to discuss the poetic meters used by Bashir bin Amer Al-Fazari, starting with the Tawil, Kamil, Basit, and Wafir meters, among others. Finally, the researcher presents the findings in the conclusion. The paper concludes that the poet composed his poetry using a range of meters, primarily the Tawil meter, which comprises more than half of his work, mostly in praise poems. Other meters include Kamil, Basit, Wafir, and others. As for the purposes, Al-Fazari composed most of his poetry in the genre of praise. He also composed elegies, sermons, satires, and fraternal poems .
