Abstract
This research explores the concept of the precautionary approach in certain doctrinal issues, defining its rules and providing examples, using the inductive descriptive method. The study finds that the precautionary approach is not limited to jurisprudence but extends to doctrinal matters where various opinions exist among Sunni scholars. It involves choosing the opinion that ensures doctrinal safety. The precautionary approach is linked to the concept of suspension, where one refrains from making affirmations or negations without knowledge, to avoid fitnah and doubts. It also relates to the principle of blocking harmful means, often preventing doctrinal errors. The approach aims to safeguard religious beliefs, promote compliance with legal commands, and resolve disputes. Its application must be based on legal evidence, not mere reasoning, and should not contradict established teachings or lead to innovation in religion. The research covers issues such as the prohibition of Qur’anic amulets, ambiguous terms, the use of “Mawlana,” the intention to travel to Medina, and the judgment of apostasy, examining the reasons for adopting the precautionary approach in these matters. Keywords: Precautionary approach, doctrinal issues, suspension, blocking harmful means .
