Abstract

Abstract:

This study aimed to identify the role of public education policies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in promoting physical activity among public school students, to assess the current state of these policies, to identify the challenges and obstacles they face, and to determine the methods employed by these policies. The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing a questionnaire as the data collection instrument. The sample consisted of 426 physical education teachers in Saudi Arabia. The results indicated a high overall level of educational policies supporting physical activity, reflecting significant institutional efforts to promote sports and physical education through programs, initiatives, and regular physical education classes. However, several obstacles were identified, most notably the lack of adequate sports facilities, insufficient playing fields, limited equipment, and low student motivation. Furthermore, the strategies used to promote physical activity were found to be of average quality, particularly concerning incentives, parental involvement, and innovative teaching methods. In light of these results, the study recommends working to improve the sports infrastructure in schools by providing suitable playgrounds and sports halls, safe spaces for practicing physical activities, and the necessity of providing appropriate sports equipment and resources for different age groups and numbers of students.
Keywords: Public education policies, physical activity practice.
