Abstract

Research Objectives: - To elucidate the reality of Shu'ubiyyah, the dangers of its proponents, and to provide a refutation. -To highlight the threats posed by Shu'ubiyyah to the Islamic creed and its deleterious effects. Research Methodology: Descriptive approach. Findings: - Shu'ubiyyah represents a movement antagonistic to Islam and Arabism. - Shu'ubiyyah has manipulated Qur'anic verses and Prophetic traditions that emphasize virtue through piety, distorting their meanings to undermine the texts and propagate their insidious ideas. - Shu'ubiyyah is more of a sentiment than a doctrine or belief. - The most apt description of Shu'ubiyyah is that it is a reaction; this is more accurate than to say it initially arose from doubts or desires before morphing into a deviant atheistic sect. -The Arab race is superior to other nations, with the caveat that an individual from other nations could surpass an Arab individual in virtue if characterized by piety. This does not contradict the prohibition of abhorrent tribal and nationalistic prejudices.
