Abstract

“Awareness of difference in the Omani novel:A reading in the variety of content “ Difference is a cornerstone in the building of the societies; differences in culture, ideas, social, political and mainly artistic for it plays a considerable role in the development of the civilisation. Difference paves the way to innovation And the development of the narration discourse and its tools, which shows the event and the reality in the framework of the imaginary and the real and the challenge of the reality. This is what makes me write about difference. In this context, the novel develops from depicting the reality to development of the character ,which becomes the efficient element. Like the Arabic literature, the Omani novel has shown developments in style and language and goes beyond the awareness of difference. The novelist stands against the social and the political limitations and stands against all the taboos, which try to stop him from innovation and having another point of view. The novel, therefore is his framework to express his political, social and cultural views, a in the Omani society. In fact, the Omani novel opens its doors not only to its domestic areas, but to its international trend, participating in the Arabic and international literature. The question to be asked is how the Omani novel succeeds in developing its social, cultural and political issues. Another question to be asked is what are the social, cultural, historical and intellectual issues that the novel has dealt with and how it has reached the Arabic and international audiences. Some old modern surveys have participated in the development of the, Omani novel as far as the artistic and the thematic sides.We can mention as an example the Omani narrative discourse by Azzeza Thayi and another example “A study in the modern Omani narration “ by Ehsan Sadak Lawati and other different studies and some seminars about the Omani novel. This study has come to the conclusion that the Omani novelist wants to reach international reputation and this study has also come to the conclusion that the Omani novel has developed linguistically and artistically. The Omani novelist has emphasised the spirit of, difference and it has the capacity to deal with social, intellectual and historical issues
