Abstract
This research aims to explore the pivotal role of good governance leadership in fostering work ethics within higher education institutions, with a particular focus on the context of Yemeni universities facing diverse challenges. The study reviews the theoretical framework of the concepts of good governance leadership and work ethics, and discusses the significance of good governance leadership in building an ethical institutional culture and achieving university goals with integrity and responsibility. The research also addresses the dimensions of good governance leadership (strategic orientation, accountability, transparency, participation) and their relationship to the development of work ethics in the academic environment. Furthermore, the study examines prominent leadership theories relevant to work ethics. The research presents findings and conclusions that emphasize the complementary relationship between good governance leadership and adherence to work ethics, as well as the role of university leaders as role models in establishing these values. It also proposes a set of practical recommendations and suggestions to enhance good governance leadership practices and support work ethics in Yemeni universities, including developing training programs, activating accountability mechanisms, promoting a culture of participation, and establishing clear ethical codes of conduct. The study concludes by emphasizing the importance of Yemeni university leaders adopting the principles of good governance leadership as a fundamental pillar for building strong and sustainable higher education institutions committed to the highest ethical standards.
