Abstract
Abstract: The study aimed to explore the role of parents in developing children’s communication skills from the perspective of Islamic education. To achieve these objectives, the study employed a descriptive methodology through a questionnaire administered to (325) parents in the city of Khamis Mushait. The study reached several results, the most important of which are: • Parents play a major role in developing their children’s communication skills. • Parents follow methods, practices, and activities to develop children’s communication skills to a high degree. • Parents indicated that there are obstacles limiting their ability to fulfill their role in developing children’s communication skills to a low degree. In light of the study’s findings, the researcher presented several recommendations, most notably: that parents should pay attention to achieving effective communication with their children through appropriate methods and practices in order to attain the desired outcomes; the preparation of training programs for parents on developing children’s communication skills; and activating the role of social institutions in discussing the importance of communication among family members and its impact on society. Keywords: Communication skills, parents, children.
